Brentford F.C. - Brentford F.C. Player Postcards (2)

1968-69
Brentford F.C. Player Postcards
Brentford F.C.
9 known so far

Paul Briers has been in contact regarding these postcards.

Hi Alan
I believe these postcards were sold in the new club shop, "Bertie Bees Bazaar", which was newly opened on 5th October 1968. It states in a programme from a game on 21 September 1968, that badges, team photos, pens, rosettes and player photos would be available for purchase. I hope this helps. I assume that each player had a photo and so others from that year, who made an appearance, could be: A.Nelmes, J.Richardson, P.Terry, G.Neilson, G.Phillips, D.Renwick, Hunt, P.Deakin, G.Kirby, Foster, B.Caterer, K.Hooker and Willis.

The Gem Library - The "Gem" Footer Puzzle

1926
The "Gem" Footer Puzzle
The Gem Library
1 sheet

Paul Briers sent in these two scans of a sheet given away with The Gem Library. It's the first time that I have seen this item, it's not even listed in the Cartophilic Society reference books. No Cardiff City player included, so I don't have to add this to my 'wants' list. The white circles are actually holes and the puzzle was to try and fold the sheet so that all the players would be visible at the same time. The solution was printed in the following weeks' issue of the story-paper. You can click on the photos to access much larger versions of the photos.

C.M. Buchan (Arsenal)

These coloured portraits were printed on paper and individual items you see these days have been cut from sheets, with each measuring approximately 55 x 73mm. 17 known so far, but I think there must be at least one more, which would make two sheets of 9 players.

Topps - Match Attax 2013/14 (09) - Preview pack

2013/14
Match Attax 2013/14
Topps
445 cards + 6x3 LE's

Thanks to Jimmy on Football Card Forum who discovered the difference in the Bryan Ruiz card, and to pholla65 also on the Football Card Forum. who confirmed it.

I've also included example of the Yoan Gouffran and Sylvain Marveaux cards, both photos are of Marveaux. Although a mistake was made these can't be described as error cards in the same way as the others. Only if Topps issues a replacement card for Gouffran will there be an error card.

Finally, I've also included two Cardiff City cards, where the same image was used for both players. Andreas Cornelius only player a few minutes for Cardiff City in the red and black kit, coming on the 90th minute of Cardiff City's win over Manchester City on the second weekend of the season. Topps didn't have a photo of him available and ended up superimposing his head on the body of Joe Mason. I only spotted it because they picked a player who appears next to him in the collection. Cornelius has been injured for most of this season, so a replacement card looks unlikely at the moment.

Here's a link to the complete checklist for this set:
